Frequently Asked Questions

About Our Ghee

What is A2 Gir Cow Ghee?

It is ghee made from the milk of indigenous Gir cows, which produce A2 beta-casein protein. Many consumers find A2 dairy easier to digest than commercial A1 dairy.

What is the Bilona method?

Bilona is an 8-step Vedic process: milk is set into curd, the curd is hand-churned with a wooden bilona to extract butter, and the butter is then simmered slowly to make ghee. It retains aroma, nutrients and structure better than modern centrifuge methods.

How is Morhav ghee different from supermarket ghee?

Most supermarket ghee is made by extracting cream from milk and centrifuging it for butter. We use the slower curd-to-butter Bilona route, source only from grass-fed indigenous cows, and never use preservatives.

How long does Morhav ghee last?

Unopened, our ghee stays good for 12 months from the date of manufacture. After opening, use a clean, dry spoon and keep it in a cool, dry place — it does not need refrigeration.

Why does ghee sometimes look grainy?

Granulation is a hallmark of authentic Bilona ghee — it indicates the right fat structure and is considered a sign of quality in Ayurveda.

About Our Honey

Is Morhav honey truly raw?

Yes. We never heat or pasteurise our honey. It is gently strained to remove debris, and otherwise sold as the bees made it.

Why is my honey crystallising?

Natural crystallisation is a sign of raw, unprocessed honey. To liquefy, place the jar in warm (not hot) water for a few minutes.

What is the difference between raw honey and regular honey?

Regular honey is typically pasteurised and ultra-filtered, which removes pollen, enzymes and aroma. Raw honey retains these naturally occurring elements.
