The Morhav legacy traces back to Lala Shankar Das Behl, who in 1944 — in pre-Partition Pakistan — began hand-churning bilona desi ghee and named it Mohan Ghee. His story is one of resilience, tradition and uncompromising commitment to quality. After Partition, Lala Ji relocated his family and craft to Delhi, where Mohan Ghee soon became a trusted household name.

His son, Dwarka Nath Behl, learned alongside him and carried the same pursuit of excellence forward. Today, that vision of purity and authenticity lives on in every jar of Morhav Ghee and Mohan Ghee® — heritage quality at honest, accessible pricing.

Going Back to the Dawn of Independence

Mohan Ghee® — A Founder's Journey Through Partition & Purity

1944

The Mohan Ghee story begins in undivided pre-Partition Pakistan, in our family's home kitchen, with Lala Shankar Das Behl hand-churning bilona desi ghee from grass-fed indigenous cows. He named it Mohan Ghee in honour of his beloved.

1947

Forced to relocate during Partition, Lala Ji brought his craft, his values and his unshakeable insistence on purity to Delhi — laying the foundation for what would become a trusted Indian household name.

1960s

Unlike the cream-skimmed ghee that grew commercially common, Mohan Ghee continued to be made the way Vedic tradition prescribed — curd-churned by hand on low flame — preserving the nutrients naturally found in cow's milk.

Today

A legacy continued — Shri Dwarka Nath Behl, Lala Ji's son, lived and worked beside him, carrying his quality-first philosophy forward. The family's commitment now lives on in every container of Morhav Organics' products and the renewed Mohan Ghee® range.
